From the entries submitted, Tate will select those to be shown on Coffee by Tate packaging, on the Tate website, and on any other of Tate’s approved partner platforms.
The open call for submission is aimed at all young people aged 16–25 who are signed up to Tate Collective. Sign up to Tate Collective here
Please be considerate with your submission. Anything defamatory or obscene (in Tate’s view) will not be accepted. Your submission must be suitable for under 18s.
Anything you submit must be your own original work. We will ask you to declare that it is your own work on your email submission. If your content contains other people’s material, e.g. images or words etc, you must have obtained the necessary permissions to use the material. Please ensure you have express written permission to use any images of living people that could identify them. Tate is entitled to request proof of any necessary permissions.
A winning selection of artworks is planned to be used on Coffee by Tate packaging, as well as in some other ways. This will be subject to a separate agreement (please see * below).
All submissions may be used to promote our platform or project, such as:
- On social media, e.g. including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and X
- On our website
- In-gallery at Tate sites
- In reports and presentations covering our activities
- On printed materials e.g. leaflets promoting the open call and other projects for young people
You agree to grant to Tate, free of charge, permission to use the material in any way it needs, for Tate services in any existing or future media worldwide (including on Tate’s website accessed by international users) and in perpetuity.
While we intend to credit you as the creator of the material, there may be some instances in which this is not possible (for example, due to formatting constraints), this will be communicated to you in advance. You also permit Tate to edit the material, if necessary. You also grant to Tate the right to sub-license these rights to approved partners.
Copyright in your contribution will remain with you and this permission is not exclusive, with the exception of the winning selection of artworks (please see * below). This means you can continue to use the material in any other way, including allowing others to use it, including licensing the material to other websites.
If you do not grant Tate the permission set out above on these terms, please do not submit or share your contribution with us. By submitting your contribution with us, you are deemed to accept these Terms and Conditions.
*A winning selection of artworks, chosen from a shortlist, will be used on Coffee by Tate packaging and in associated ways. If your work is selected for this, we will contact you again with a formal agreement. This agreement will include an exclusive, three-year licence from you to be able to use your work on the coffee packaging, merchandising (for example, but not limited to, T-shirts, tote bags, etc.) and in other associated ways. Tate, in its discretion, reserves the right to terminate the licence and accompanying licence fees after two years. We will pay you for this licence.
Tate will hold and process your personal data for all purposes relating to the administration and award of this open call. Tate will not use your personal data for any other purpose except as necessary for the purposes of this open call. You can contact us (dpo@tate.org.uk) to amend or remove any information you submit to us, or ask us to remove all of your personal information.
