Tarek Atoui

Tarek Atoui (born 1980) is a Lebanese contemporary artist and composer who integrates sound, somatic and aural sensations to create his music.

Based on research in music history and traditional music practices, his work reflects the notion of instrument, and how it interacts with listening, composing and performing. Atoui, as an artist, references current social and political realities, revealing music and new technologies as powerful components of expression and identity. He is inspired by the open form sound from the 1960s and 1970s, using visual art and sound to create his music.
