Signature Brew champions female brewers who are making a comeback in the industry.
For centuries, female brewers - “Brewsters” – used hops for religious ceremonies, medicines and for drinking with meals. Sadly, due to the Reformation, strict gender roles were instilled and rumours spread about brewsters being in fact witches brewing potions which meant that being a female brewer became dangerous work.
That’s why, until quite recently, men have taken the lead on brewing and drinking beer. But women are regaining ground.
Signature Brew celebrates these society-changing women. They’ve also been rebelling against monolithic beers - adding more than a dash of music to their brewing process –with unforgettable music gigs held at their Brewery since 2011.

Since we started in 2011, our legendary band collaboration beers have seen us brew with more artists than any other brewery in the world, including the likes of Hot Chip, alt-J, Mastodon, IDLES, The Darkness, Sports Team, Enter Shikari, Big Joanie, Mogwai, Ed Gamble and Hospital Records.
